Pope Reunion Part II

Another highlight of the Reunion is the breakfast. It is delicious. Every year it gets better and better. After a late night of singing and listening to music, we got up early and started breakfast. This is a tradition. It started with all of my grandpa's brothers cooking, now the family who is in charge cooks. So that meant us. Dad showed us the secret to cooking great pancakes. After supervising, he said grandpa would have been proud.
Me, Diane, Melissa, Doug, Sara, Lori and Mom all helping out. (Lisa was facilitating the line and taking pictures)
I helped cook bacon. It's not too bad when everyone helps out.

Here they come.Me and Erika. We couldn't have done it without the Rockstar!!
Dad and Mom counting the money. Ready to hand it over to the next in line.
Sara, Lisa, me, Emily and Melissa. I love my cousins! We have a great time.
Until next year!

Pope Family Reunion 2010

Time again for the Pope Family Reunion. My family was in charge this year. Good times. We headed down on Friday after work. Anyone who knows me knows that I hate the drive to St. George. I was hoping for a smooth drive. NOT so! Just outside of Fillmore, my serpentine belt broke.
Thanks to Triple A, Lisa and I enjoyed a nice tow truck lift back into Fillmore. This delayed us a few hours. Good thing Mom and Dad were not too far ahead of us. So, we had to jump in with Mom and Dad. That was a good time.
No, we aren't squished at all. We had to take all the stuff in my car and put it in with Mom and Dad. Ok there is a reason we drive our own car on family vacations. :) Anyway, it's been a long time since we all drove together longer then 45 minutes, but we did make the best of it. We told Dad to drive fast. All I can say is there was a lot of laughing and a lot of comments flying around.
Let the family reunion begin. We always have a fishpond. Lisa is very excited for this. Good thing we had some help. Jack and Bryne were so great to help us with this.
This is the group filling up water balloons. (to be used later in a giant water fight)
And the effects of the water balloon. We did get a little wet. Thanks to Mary who started it.

And onto the raffle. This is how the reunion is funded. Everyone brings stuff and we all buy tickets. One of the highlights of the party.
And then comes the Talent show. We never participate, but this year we made an exception.
Helping Emily with her bandanna.

Emily, me and Lisa.

We did a skit in honor of Errol making it through the Air Force Academy.
We had a good time.

Listening to Uncle Wendel play is the highlight of the reunion. I can sit all night and listen to the music. We all sing along. It can go all night.

More to come....

Amy's 'new adventure party'

Amy's, last day was October 6th. She had been working at Lehi for the last 2 years. She went to California to work for a friend. (Offered more money--how can I compete! :) ) It has been so fun to work with her. It was so great to reconnect with her. Amy and I grew up together and then kind of drifted away. 2 years ago she interviewed for a position at the high school. I just happened to walk down to the office and saw her. I talked to her for a second, walked into the office and said I want her for my para-educator--who do I talk to.

Lisa and Amy
Me and Amy. (yes my hair blends into the wall)
Toni and Amy (these two were pretty much joined at the hip--I was joined at the other hip)
Oh it's been fun. Every morning when Amy would walk past my room, she would stop and we would have our morning chat. Lisa, whose room was next to mine, heard us singing many times. Songs from Glee and Britany Spears were some of our favorites. We also loved the word wall I had up. We tried to use as many words as we could in our conversations and the students would try to keep up. It was pretty funny. She always came to work with a smile on her face.
A lot has happened in the last 2 years. And we've been there for each other. I wish her luck in her future. I will totally miss her at work.

Some people, I don't know who, might wonder if we ever worked. Well, we did get stuff done eventually.
Some of my favorite pictures--through our many adventures.
Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end...to many more adventures.

Hiking

Lisa and I went hiking over Labor Day weekend. The weather was perfect. We hiked Silver Lake. I would like to hike it again--to see if it's prettier in the spring. Still we had a good time.
This was not it--This was the view from the parking lot. That should have been enough. These pictures crack me up. Lisa was swatting a huge fly. I laughed so hard--I thought I was going to choke on my sandwich.
You can actually see the fly on the left side of her hand. :)

Love the wind blown look I have going on. :)And here it is... I'm someone who when I hike, I want a Ta-Da!! at the end. Some kind of a reward. Umm, here was our reward. I like water falls at the end. Maybe next spring. Still we had a fun time.Had to show off the new hiking shoes I bought to do all this hiking in summer and I used them...once. Good for me. :)
