Jamie's Bridal shower

A few weeks ago we had Jamie's bridal shower. (a bridal shower while the guys were at priesthood) She requested no games, so we had a great little get together with soup and lots of desserts. Anytime we can have a party it's loud time.

She got some fun things and all the presents were rather tame and in clean taste.

Deb came through. We think she was more embarrassed about the presents then Jamie was.

After the priesthood session the guys stopped by for some food and to join in on the fun.

This was the night of the Breaking Dawn release. Jen and Jenna and I wore our Team Edward t-shirts, got all tattooed up and then made smoothies. Good times.

Fabulous Friday

My mom's ward had Fabulous Friday instead of Super Saturday. Lisa and Amy and I all signed up to have a night of crafts. I was pretty excited. I signed up for 3 little projects. (or so I thought)

Here we are just starting off with our witches boot. It really did not look that hard. Notice the smile on Lisa's face, that all disappeared when 3 hours later we were still working on the same freakin' boot.

Here is the middle part of the process. Painting was not bad. The worst part was lacing up the boot. It was so weird and a little complicated. Amy mastered the lacing up part and had to help everyone else. I kept thinking that we are almost done, so we did not break for dinner. We did keep up with the Diet Coke. And Jane (Amy's mom, and Fab Friday planner) kept us going with fabulous prizes and snacks and drinks. It was SO fun!!

I think the boot did me in, because I never took anymore pictures. I just got the final one.

I also made a pumpkin. That went a lot quicker then the boot. Lisa was making flower clips to put in your hair. She made me some and keep putting them in my hair. Now the boot in hanging in my house. I love it, but still laugh thinking about how long it took us. I still have to finish one project, it was an advent calendar for Christmas. Hopefully, we won't have a repeat of the boot.

Sewing Day

My roommate made the cutest bag ,so of course I had to have one too. On Labor Day we went shopping for fabric. I was so excited. I got it all cut out and then we sewed it later that week.

It has been a long time since I have sewed anything. I did make pajama pants 2 years ago and swore I would never sew anything again. Well this bag was just too cute to resist. My roommate was great to tell me exactly what to do--that is the only way to do it.

The final product. It only took me 3 hours to sew. I thought that was pretty good. I love how big it is. You can fit so much in it.

This is a picture of the inside. It has three pockets in it. My favorite part is the animal print. I just had to work that into the bag. I found out that I am not the straightest sewer and I'm not a perfectionist. It works. Don't look too closely or you will see all the mistakes. I can't wait to sew another one!

Hiking Timp

As if I have not put my body through enough--over Labor Day weekend Lisa and Jen and I decided to hike Timp. We were pretty excited about it, until we were hiking it. But first Lisa and I decided to go to Swiss Days. Love it. I live for the ham and swiss. It's my favorite. The next thing I love are the scones. My cousin Preston had the best idea. He said "Swiss Days only comes once a year so eat up." Oh and Lisa and I ate up. We also love a cookie there called bratslies. (I don't know how to spell it) Then Lisa and I walked around and spent money.

Here comes the hike. I was kind of dreading it. I was just tired. I was hoping for the meadow only.

Happy Hikers

This was the sight of one of the breaks. We needed to fuel up. And convince ourselves that we could make to the meadow.

Refueling...and convincing us to make it to the saddle. Thanks Lisa for the Thanksgiving analogy. We were sitting there looking up at the saddle and thought, huh, we are here and it's not that far. We said we were going to make it to the saddle so when we don't, it' s like huh... and then Lisa said, "I feel like I cooked Thanksgiving dinner and now I don't get to eat it"

Yup..that did it.

Lisa and I can pretty much talk each other into anything. (little windy at the top)

Just finished eating "dinner" and now heading back down. We celebrated by eating at the Purple Turtle. Next year, we think we will just stay at Swiss Days and eat up.

1/2 marathon fun!

Me, walking back to the family with my Finisher's shirt. (you only get the shirt if you finish the race) I was proud of myself. I ran the entire time. I walked during the water stations.

It was a pretty run down the canyon, ending at the city park. I keep thinking "You're in it, just finish it. It's just a nice run down the canyon" It was a pretty run. Long, but pretty. Not sure if I will sign up for another one too soon.

Jen and I woke up at 4:30 am to get ready and left by 5. We made it down to Springville and got on a bus to ride up the canyon. Then we just kind of waited around until race time. Tons of people were up there just waiting around for the start time, stretching, jumping, warming up, practice sprinting. It's good time. The night before is the worst. I was so nervous, but the morning I was just ready to get it over with. I finished it in 2 hours 19 minutes. By mile 10 I was feeling it. Thanks to my Hammer gel--I found the strength to keep going.

I really needed it. That helped me get through. The last 1 1/2 miles my quads were screaming. You know that is a bad sign when you already hurt and the race is not done. People on the street were cheering and saying "You're almost done, keep going." And people who had already finished and were walking back were cheering us on. That was cool. People come out of their houses and cheer people on. There were about 1300 people who registered and only around 1000 finished. The others just could not hack it.

The brave finishers. We could not walk the next day, or even an hour after, but hey we accomplished our goal. (and dragged everyone with us..Lisa and Jamie and Jenna all got up and ran with us ..on every vacation and we ran all summer long)

Refueling our bodies after the race. It was so hard to walk even 20 minutes after we were done. By the next day, my whole body ached. We felt pain so we weren't dead. But wow--once that Aleve wore off--all I wanted was to sleep and drink water. I still don't think I have hydrated myself back up. Good times.

Summer Fun

Just a few pictures from the summer that did not get posted earlier. I had a great summer and I am so sad that it's over. (I think I'm just sad that I have to be in school and work--hopefully it will go fast)

American Fork Steel Days. Love the Crusin' and the car show. It was a great time. Lisa and I ran in the AF 5k, but our comupter crashed and we lost those pictures. It was a good time. Lisa, again, does the race without any kind of training. We will be doing it next year.

My Birthday was July 29. I celebrated with family and my friends. My roommates took me out to dinner, both credit unions that I worked at (lehi and Af) celebrated my birthday, my cousin and I saw x-files, (still not sure about it) and of course there was lots of cake and ice cream. Thanks guys. I have the best family and friends.

And what I have been waiting for all summer.....the release of Breaking Dawn. Or the disappointing release of Breaking Dawn. My cousins and I went to the all night party to celebrate. We did fake tatoos (from the special addition of New Moon, I think) and red lipstick (thanks Jenna) and made t-shirts and went out in the world of vampires. Then the next day we went to the pool and read all day. Jenna finished it in one day, Jen later that night, me the next day. I have to say I was a little disappointed in it. I did not love it and I really wanted to love it. I like the other 3 books better. I've talked to a few people who felt the same way, (Jami, Amy, Lisa..Megan have you decided yet) I was afraid it was just me.

Me, Jenna, Jen in the t-shirts. Team Edward all the way. Lisa was at convention or she would have been there. Emily was celebrating in Orem. Filling out a quiz thing. We did not use a book to cheat, but we also have not heard back, so I guess we did not win. (we must of been wrong about Stephenie's pet as a child..we said a rat named Templeton)It was an interesting time. Lots of people in shirts and dressed up in prom attire. It was kind if fun.

The last thing of the summer was my 1/2 marathon, which I did survive. But that gets a post all to itself. It will be coming.
